  Is there a discount available for students who would like to use WordPress for a school project?

  I didn’t mean to offend. Here’s my view. The Personal plan doesn’t add anything to what you get with a free plan apart from a custom domain name. Do students need a custom domain name if they’re only using WordPress.com for a project? There would be the added hassle of renewing domain/plan. That could be an issue going forward.
  The Premium plan does give you the option of custom CSS but do students need to learn this nowadays? If that is the feature you’re wanting then a WordPress.org install may work out cheaper than a Premium plan here at WordPress.com. And as the Block editor is constantly being worked on to increase options I’m sure it will eventually reach the point where adding your own code will seem old fashioned.
  The Business plan does give the option of infinite themes/plugins but even if there was a discount offered it would still be expensive.
