When posting on this forum how do I insert?
Screen Shot: I use Snipping Tool to grab a portion of the screen, but I am not sure how to insert this.
Image: I’m not sure how to insert an image when posting on this forum.
PDF: Not sure how to do this either.
Yesterday, A blogger asked a question about Reading Settings I wanted to reply by showing the blogger a snapshot of the screen. I did not know how to do this.
Any suggestions?

Hi there,
you can instert an image by going to Posts, then edit the post in which you want to your picture. Use Add Media > Upload files.
I am afraid that with the Snipping Tool, you need to save a picture first to Desktop and reproduce the steps described above.
The same goes for a PDF.

Thanks mrlubomir,
So I need to convert everything to image first. Thank you.
In this area where we are both now can I insert an image?
-
Hi, do you mean, insert picture here in this forum? It cannot be accomplished as we’re both typing to a text field, however, you can upload a screenshot somewhere and post a link here.

@johnbrennanlive
You upload your screenshot to any online service, like your media library, dropbox, flickr, clouddrive, etc. Then you paste the URL of the uploaded image (or document) here.Personally, I prefer http://snag.gy/
Just paste your picture directly on that site, and then paste the URL it generates in the forum. Then anyone who clicks that URL will be able to see the image online.

Thank you very much. I do have dropbox but not snagy. I shall try what you have suggested when I get back from the gym. I thank both of you for your resolution.
Cheers

Snag.gy doesn’t require you to have an account or anything to use it. Just visit the site and paste. That’s why I prefer it, but whatever works best for you.

Only problem is snag.gy has all that letterhead paraphanalia whereas, wordpress seems to be more clean, mrlubomir.

mrlubomir,
I must be doing something wrong to post it here using dropbox.
1. I have uploaded the screen shot as an image to dropbox.
2. Tried doing a copy, but it would only paste the home dropbox page.Any suggestions?

Select your file, then right click, it could open a context menu with a dropbox icon, which says something, like _Share a dropbox link (my language settings are German so I don’t know the exact name in English…)
After you select this option, a URL of the pic is copied to clipboard.I would suggest that you create a dedicated folder for screenshots in your dropbox so they don’t get mixed up with other files.

If you want to create a library of screenshots you can call on whenever you need to, I’d go with a dropbox folder, or another image hosting service like your WordPress.com media library. The media library is the simpler option here, I think, as you don’t have to create a special sharing link as you need to on dropbox, clouddrive or similar, but it will eat into your media storage space.
For once-off screenshots a service like snaggy is simpler as it’s instant and doesn’t require any sign-on.
