WordPress Fraudulent Sites
-
I have an e-commerce store and am in the middle of updating my Buy on Google listings and notices a few fraudulent sites. When I look at the source code it shows they were built on WordPress. These sites are scamming people and making it hard for buyers to trust legitimate sites like mines. I have came across quite a few of them and have links to some.

These are just a few of many fraud WordPress sites that need to be taken down immediately.I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

I have the same products as these fraud sites on my legitimate website and most of the items retail for over $500 and some even over $1,000. Each one of these sites does not have a single product listed for over $100 which means they would technically lose money on each and every sale because you cannot purchase any of these items for under $100 directly from the manufacturer.

Hi there:
To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:
- The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
- WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
- WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.
None of the sites you listed are hosted here at WordPress.com, so there’s nothing we can do there.
You would need to find out who is hosting each site (you can use a site like Hosting Checker to look that up), then contact each host as the sites likely violate their terms of service. You may also want to contact the domain registrar for each site as well.
If you find any sites hosted at WordPress.com, you would report them by following the steps here:
If you find a site that violates our User Guidelines or Terms of Service, we want you to let us know about it. Please understand that we don’t always respond to these reports, but every single one is read (by a real human being), and the reported site is reviewed accordingly. More importantly, please note that the team behind WordPress.com strongly believes in freedom of speech. WordPress.com hI hope that clarifies things! Best of luck.
