WordPress Freezes every time I try to Edit Menu?

    Hi,

    So I don’t know why, but every time I try to edit the menu on my blog WordPress freezes and won’t allow me to edit it. I’ve tried to edit it on my laptop and my partner’s laptop, and I’ve also tried various browsers, but nothing works.

    I was playing around with the theme (Button 2) and somehow managed to add a drop-down option to the ‘home’ icon on the menu bar. I didn’t mean to do this, but I can’t undo it now because it always freezes.

    Ideally, all I’d like to do is remove the drop-down menu from the ‘home’ icon and reorder the icons on the menu bar.

    Can somebody please advise how I am to solve this whole freezing problem?

    Hi @aclassicreader!

    That was odd – It crashed for me as well (ruling out anything local on your end).

    If I opened My Site > Customize > Menus, the moment I clicked on Menu 1 the browser tab would lock up. I wasn’t able to retrieve any error messages before it froze, which will make it tricky to troubleshoot!

    The other interesting thing is that “Home” was being displayed as though it had children, but there wasn’t actually anything there. In fact, the menu didn’t have a “Home” link at all – even though one was being displayed.

    To get around it, I used My Site > Menus instead of the Customizer. I added a new Home link, with no submenu and saved it.

    That seems to have cleared whatever was getting caught in your Customizer, so you should be good to go now, but please let me know if this happens again!

    I have a similar problem, I’m using a MacBook and whenever I use the touchpad to right-click, the app freezes for a second then I get a white screen. I’ve tried closing out and going back in, but doing this consecutive times I’ve lost some of my work (in between autosaves). I’m not sure if its just a bug, something that I can undo, or a setting I may need to change. Any advice?
