WordPress Gallery -> click on full res image to return to thumbnails view

  Hello,

  I’m using the WordPress build-in Gallery to display groups of images.
  The (Gallery) thumbnails link to the full res image which is what I want.

  [gallery columns="1" link="file" ids="120,121,122,9"]

  Now it would be great if I could just click on that image and return to the thumbnail view of the Gallery,

  Any thought appreciated.

  Hi catchall26,

  If you remove the ‘link=”file”‘ parameter, the gallery should revert to the carousel option, which would cause a full-sized image to return to the thumbnail view when you click on the black background.

  Hi,

  Thanks … that works but it is not really fullscreen.

  I just want to display the image itself (fullscreen) and when I link to the file, that is what is happening.
  maybe I could alter the carousel code I could tweak this to my requirements but I don’t know where that carousel code is at (which file)

  You’ll probably need some JavaScript magic to get the image to return to the thumbnail. Try asking in the WordPress.org support forums, since these forums are focused on helping WordPress.com users.
