WordPress Gateway Theme with transition of wordpress.com to wordpress.org – HELP
-
I am trying to get my website up and running and have run into so many problems- is there a person I can talk to via chat online or phone to discuss my WordPress blog and plan?
I have looked through all forums and support documentation, but nothing will help me.
In a nutshell:
– I setup my free blog/website through a free wordpress theme and used that
– decided I need to change the name from .wordpress.org so I purchased a domain name through Crazy domains
– wanted to convert my old wordpress theme/old blog to this new domain name
– support forums directed me towards BlueHost
– purchased BlueHost for 3 years; transferred DNS servers over etc.
– have exported/imported my old blog to the new website
– have discovered the Theme I was using (“Gateway”) looses a lot of it’s functions (buttons/ post format) etc. when you use it as a paying customer?!?!This means the website I was hoping for, that I designed with my original theme, is unavailable. I have sorted through all the other themes, but none look as good or fit with what I need.
SHOULD I DELETE MY BLUEHOST ACCOUNT and start again and buy WordPress plan and Map it through WordPress? Will this keep my original formatting/buttons/plugins!?!?
I would love to chat to someone one-on-one from wordpress plans and sales, but there seems to be no way available to chat to someone about this?!!?!
HELP!!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi
– have discovered the Theme I was using (“Gateway”) looses a lot of it’s functions (buttons/ post format) etc. when you use it as a paying customer?!?!
To clarify a bit, WordPress.com is a service. WordPress.org is a free software project. Because it’s a community project, it doesn’t have a sales or support department. It’s a bit like the difference between a restaurant and a recipe if that makes sense.
We’d be happy to help you map your domain here though, if you’d like, and that would give you direct support here at WordPress.com. This comment suggests the domain was the main thing you needed:
decided I need to change the name from .wordpress.org so I purchased a domain name through Crazy domains
If that was the main goal of moving to your own WordPress installation, mapping a domain would actually be a lot easier. You’d need a paid plan with us:
https://wordpress.com/plansThen, using your domain credit, head over to https://wordpress.com/domains and either buy a new domain there, or add mapping for the one you already bought.
Again, once you have a paid plan here you do get direct support, too, so if you need help, go ahead and get the plan then get in touch here:
