WordPress, Go Daddy or both

My consulting firm (i.e. Securitas Consulting) is based in Colombia (South America). Our website (securitasconsulting.com) currently runs on a Themeforest template on WordPress, and basic Linux hosting provided by Go Daddy.

We are improving our website, thus are interested on a better hosting (i.e. Ultimate hosting) provided by Go Daddy. Additionally we want to improve security of our website, acquire an SSL certificate, swap our current template for a better template from Themeforest, upload more and better content (including pictures and videos), and include additional features, such as a chatbot, subscription to our newsletters, etc.

In Colombia Go Daddy offers ‘WordPress hosting – Ultimate’, which according to their customer service includes all the features of WordPress’ ‘Business’, except for WordPress’ 24/7 Priority live chat support. Is this really the case?

We are keen on all of WordPress’ ‘Business’ features. If Go Daddy’s ‘WordPress hosting – Ultimate’ includes all of the ‘Business’ features, expect for the priority live chat support, we would not mind keeping our hosting with GoDaddy using the option mentioned above. We would however be very disappointed if we were to acquire Go Daddy’s ‘WordPress hosting – Ultimate’ for the next 3 years and then find out (i) we are unable to use external templates, such as those provided by Themeforest, (ii) that it does not provide SFTP and database access, (iii) that it has no advanced social media tools, (iv) no VideoPress support, (v) and/or no SEO tools.

What do you recommend, should we go on and acquire Go Daddy’s ‘WordPress hosting – Ultimate’? If we definitely want to have WordPress’ ‘Business’ features mentioned above should we migrate our hosting to WordPress? If the latter is the case, how should we change our hosting from Go Daddy to WordPress?

  • Hi there,

In Colombia Go Daddy offers ‘WordPress hosting – Ultimate’, which according to their customer service includes all the features of WordPress’ ‘Business’, except for WordPress’ 24/7 Priority live chat support. Is this really the case?

I cannot comment on whether or not that’s the case, as I don’t have any information about what GoDaddy’s plan includes. We’re only able to answer questions about what we offer on WordPress.com.

For questions about GoDaddy’s offering, please contact their presales support team directly.

If we definitely want to have WordPress’ ‘Business’ features mentioned above should we migrate our hosting to WordPress? If the latter is the case, how should we change our hosting from Go Daddy to WordPress?

WordPress.com plans can only be bought for sites that are hosted on our severs on WordPress.com, so you’d need to migrate the site to our hosting, yes.

If you’ll be using our Business Plan, we offer a one-click migration option where we import your content, plugins and theme to a new site on WordPress.com via the Jetpack plugin. You can find details about that migration option here:
