WORDPRESS HOSTING

  • Unknown's avatar

I have researched a bit on the pros and cons of using WordPress as my host, versus using GoDaddy or 1 & 1, etc.
I want to make sure that I understand.

So, is my new site I create on WP and host thru WP accessible and ranked as well on the internet, thru another host?

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, a WordPress.com blog will outrank an independently-hosted blog using WordPress software, all other factors being equal. I’ve tested this extensively.

However, you have a lot more restrictions on what you can do here vs. self hosted as you’re seeing on your other thread.

So, if my business name is searched by a potential customer, for example on Google, it is very possible that the .Wordpress.com site would be ranked as high or higher than a mainstream .com? My potential customer would possibly not know that it is wordpress.com site, though. Would that be a detriment to them finding me?
    Thanks

    Yes.

The footer credit links to the theme designer and WordPress.com cannot be removed.

Would that be a detriment to them finding me?

    No.

I will visit that link again. Sorry, I just want to make sure that the public, if they know my business name, but did not know that my site was a WP site, would be able to find me by doing a basic search. Want to make sure there are no limitations in my accessibility on WP.
    Thanks *again*

You can have a WP.com site with a Custom Domain name, like whatever.com. That still outranks a site on a different host with the same URL.
