WordPress Hosting Help Needed
-
My husband has a free chess website on webs.com that is going away on June 30. He wanted it replicated (old-style) and I hired Design Lane online who replicated the website in wordpress. I have a free website at WordPress.com but Design Lane is telling me that they cannot load the website to a free or personal wordpress site so I can either get hosting from WordPress (Premium) or from them at $90 annually. I want to be able to update the site myself from WordPress. They say they are limited by the number of pages if I just buy a Personal hosting. Am I? I can’t find this information anywhere. I would like to see where WordPress Personal limits the number of pages you can create in writing. I think they are trying to sell me their hosting and I am not crazy about that company. Can anyone help?

Hm, it doesn’t sound like they have the right info. There’s no limit to the number of pages your site can have here, even on the free plan.
You can find the comparison of what our plans offer at https://wordpress.com/pricing/
The only thing that might be an issue, if they designed a custom theme for you, you will need a paid Business or eCommerce plan to use that third-party theme: https://wordpress.com/support/themes/uploading-setting-up-custom-themes/
With that said, we do have hundreds of themes available, no paid plan required: https://wordpress.com/themes
If you’d like, you can move that WordPress site to us by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/
