wordpress hosting vs. independant hosting
-
hello:
i’m new to wordpress, so i apologize in advance if this topic has already been covered ad-nauseum…
i’m setting up a simple personal portfoilio site. on a recommendation, i’ve decided to use wordpress and i’m trying to decide between setting it up as a blog and letting wordpress host it for free or setting it up on my own and paying for hosting from some other isp. would someone be good enough to give me a quick rundown of the pros and cons? i understand that if my site is hosted by wordpress, i’m limited as to the visual themes i can choose. how much of a drawback is this? is it reasonably easy to manipulate a given theme into a somewhat non-blog looking layout?
of course, the issue here is money. yes, monthly hosting is pretty cheap, but so am i right now and i figure why pay if i don’t have to.
thanks in advance for any help and/or suggestions.
