I know html and .js how do I upload or add html code? The gui/user interface is frustrating and not very user friendly.

Hi @lanecountypress,
I am also familiar with HTML/CSS and JS. I just started editing my WordPress site with HTML as well and similar to you, I feel it’s a bit of a learning curve. Here’s a great YouTube video highlighting different ways to code HTML within your site.
And I’m not completely sure if this is possible with a WordPress.com account (vs. the WordPress.org account she uses in the video, read this for the difference). But here’s a link to the part of the video where she uses FTP to address your issue.
Hope this helps! Have a great weekend.

Hi @lanecountypress and @bmichael19
This kind of customization is offered via our Business plan where we enable SFTP on your site to access core files: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Free sites and sites using plans below the Business plan exist in a shared hosting environment where accessing core files is not permitted, but for a reason. Accessing core files increases the level of difficulty and chances of breaking a website. These things can take valuable time away from folks looking to start a simple website for themselves or their business.
However, we realize there are some site owners that prefer the complexity, and our Business plan can cater to that.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
