WordPress image resizing compression resulting blur photos
-
I’m running a blog with twenty fourteen theme. According to the spec, the main width image is 474px.
Before uploading, I’ve resized my image to 1280px.
Now the problem I had is, opening the page from desktop browser (Chrome Version 49.0.2623.87 m *latest*), it appear that wordpress shrink the images, resulting blur image.
Here’s the screenshot, on the left is original 1280px, resized automatically, and the right one is the image resized to 474px before uploading. The image on the right is sharp and crispier.
Now things get weirder. On smartphone (Samsung galaxy S4 running latest chrome), the original 1280px looks sharper than 474px, as confirmed here:

Now I’m confused.
If I use 474px before upload, the result would be crisp on desktop, but blur on smartphone.
If I use 1280px before upload, the result would be crisp on smartphone, but blur on desktop.
Help please?
