WordPress import issue (invalid XML message)

  I’ve had no problem exporting from my old blog which I want to delete, but when I try to import the saved file to my current blog, this is the message I keep getting:

  Import WordPress

  Invalid XML on read in WXR_Large_File_Parser::__construct() for php://filter/read=xml_character_filter/resource=file:///nfs/c26/147094050/files/2019/03/zenshedart.wordpress.com-2019-03-18-05_38_13-pafg9ibmabfhnfgkiub3o8d6ls663awt.zip.txt (size: )

  Anyone out there know how to translate this to normy speak? What’s wrong here and what can I do about it? Thanks in advance for any help :)

  Hi there,

  What is the size of the XML file that you are trying to import? If it larger than 15mb, it will not import successfully. If this is the case, the best bet is to export your content in smaller XML sizes by exporting several smaller date ranges.

  staff-doublebassd Thanks for your response. I thought the same thing but when I hover over the winzip file it says it’s only 498KB. I think I’ll try exporting in parts anyway, I’ll update here on how that goes. Thanks for the tip.

  I’ve tried importing just 15 published posts and got the same message.

  Please right-click on the .zip file and select extract. Then open the folder that’s created, and import the .xml file(s) inside that folder.

  The WordPress importer does not accept .zip files, only .xml

  @kokkieh thank you, I have a successful import! I couldn’t extract in the exact way you mentioned but was still able to retrieve the xml file with no hassles. Thanks again.
