WordPress import not updating all image links

  I am trying to import a self-hosted blog to to wordpress.com. All the images do import but 600 (out of 888) are not attached to a post. They are attached on the old blog. Of the 600 some do seem to have updated the link in the post to find the imported file. But there are also some that still point to the old URL. The images for these appear since the old site is still online but won’t once it goes down.

  Is there a automated way to attach the images or update the URL in the post to find the imported image?

  It can take a little time for the importer to finish processing all of your image URLs. I just spot-checked your blog and I don’t see any references to your old URL. If you still see some images still pointing there, can you send me a link to those posts? We can fix that up for you.

  The WordPress importer will reattach as many images as it can, but sometimes imported images won’t reattach to your posts. As long as the images are successfully uploaded and the image URLs are updated, you shouldn’t run into problems with those images on your WordPress.com blog.

  I’m not seeing any issues related to those unattached images, but please let me know if you have any additional concerns about that. If you definitely want those images to be attached, you can reattach them manually as mentioned here: Unattached Files

  Hi. Thanks for the response.

  I did find one that used the old link but I also found a lot of the older posts used relative URLs for the image path so I can see where those wouldn’t be pulled in and these seem to be most of the remaining issues so I can work on these.

  Ok, yeah, the relative URLs could cause problems for reattaching the images. If there’s anything else I can help with, just let me know. :)
