wordpress importer does not work

am trying to import web contents from another wordpress (godaddy) site to a new free wordpress site. I exported a xml file (~4 MB) from the old wordpress site, and then imported it to the new site, and got the message ‘We’re processing your import now and will send you an email when it’s all done. If you don’t hear from us within 24 hours,…’. However nothing has happened since over 24 hours ago. Please help.

Is the site you have the XML export file from still online?
If yes, what is the URL?Sometimes the importer gets stuck. If the file is large you may have to import Posts, Pages, etc. in separate files. Or if the file is very large Staff may have to do the import.

Thank you for the response. The original site is online, and the URL is http://chinesefood-diy.com/. I am not sure if 4 MB is too large, and I tried export the site in separate files, but the “pages” takes 99% of the 4 MB and it seems not splittable. Anyways, I will wait for the Staff’s help. Thank you so much.

One update: I trimmed down my original site and now the exported xml file is only 130 KB. I tried importing it to another wp site (https://cooking921.wordpress.com/), and it was “successful”. However, looking at the imported site, it looks nothing like my original site, only containing <10% of my original contents. Please help. Thank you

Can you start with the original site, remove any unmoderated / spam comments, and then try making your export once more? I’ll email you so you can attach that new file in your response. Then we’ll try from our end.
