Your site https://sailingmatinee.com/ is running on the wordpress.com platform.
If you don’t know what a charge is about, check it at https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/

Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear about the unexpected charge on your credit card. I understand how concerning this can be, and I’m here to help you resolve this.
I’ve looked into your account and found that this charge is associated with the renewal of your site’s plan and domain (sailingmatinee.com). You can view more details about that transaction on your Billing History page.
If you no longer want this plan and domain, you can cancel them and request a refund through your Purchases page. For more information on how to get a refund, please visit: https://wordpress.com/support/refunds/
If you need any assistance with the cancellation and refund process, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’m here to help you every step of the way.

No that is just not right! Both transactions are on a CC (last 4 digits [redacted]) that no longer exists (it was cancelled over a year ago – my current CC’s last 4 digits are [redacted]) also it says under Purchases that the CC has expired. PLUS if you have a look on Payment Methods tab it says the same.
Add to that if you look at Billing History I was just charged USD$96 for bodybackup.wordpress.com for an annual sub, which was for a Website that does not even exist and was a business I closed nearly 8-9 years ago.
What is going on here? WP doesn’t even have my current CC details – please explain?! You can understand I am furious with this misuse of customer CCs.

I took a look at your past support history and I don’t see any requests from you to cancel any plans for that particular site, so they would continue to renew until you choose to cancel it.
Regarding this payment, it’s a common practice for credit card companies to allow recurring transactions even if the card stored by the merchant is past the expiration date. When it’s time for the next payment, we attempt to charge your card using the information we have on file.
If the credit card on file has expired, the payment may still go through if the card issuer allows it. Some credit card issuers may automatically update the expiration date and issue a new card to you with the updated information, especially for recurring subscription services. In some cases, the payment may be processed through a payment gateway that is able to obtain updated information on your card, which is what happened here.
You can still request a cancellation and refund of the Premium plan charge from your purchases page. You can also request to cancel the domain registration for sailingmatinee.com if you choose from the same page, but it’s outside our refund window for domains.
I hope that clarifies things! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Also, the site bodybackup.wordpress.com is the site that is using the domain sailingmatinee.com so if you cancel the Premium plan there, that domain will redirect to bodybackup.wordpress.com.

..thx for your reply. I am still astounded an old CC can still be used. I have cancelled the Premium Plan and looks like the refund will automatically go through, so that is a relief. I will contact my CC company and make my point, thanks again Mark
