WordPress Inserting Google Ads Into Posts

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve noticed that Google Ads are making their way into the bottom of posts.

Just curious…when does WordPress insert these Google Ads? Is it when they see that the post is getting a ton of hits?

Also, does WordPress go back to past posts and insert the Google Ads as well?

I do realize there is an option available to pay $29.99 to have all Google Ads removed, however, based on the answer to this question is how I will determine if I will make that purchase.

    Looking forward to your response.

    HI there!

Logged in WP.com members don’t see the ads I have heard in the past that the ads show up for non logged-in readers of the blog when they land on blog via the search engine…

Also yes ads can show up on older posts as well… As for if ads show up on posts because of ton of hits has never been confirmed if it plays a factor or not…

Question: “when does WordPress insert these Google Ads?”

Answer: We Volunteers do not know the answer to this question – only Staff do.
All we know is what is stated at this link

Note: To support the service (and keep free features free), we also sometimes run advertisements. We’ve tested a lot of different ad providers and currently use Google AdSense and Skimlinks. We try hard to make the ads discreet and effective and only run them in limited places. http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

I’ve found them in a lot of older posts but the ads have no relation to the content of said posts. I’d love to be able to run adverts myself but we’re not allowed yet are we?

    @thebrotha
The ONLY bloggers who can run ads are VIP hosted bloggers >
    http://vip.wordpress.com/
And those who have very high traffic blogs that have been accepted into the AdControl Program > http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

The wordpress statement on this feature says:
“We sometimes display discreet advertisements on your blog—this keeps free features free! The ad code tries very hard not to intrude on your design or show ads to logged-in readers, which means only a very small percentage of your page views will actually contain ads. To eliminate ads on your blog entirely this is the upgrade you want.”

I opted for the no ads upgrade ($29.97) almost a year ago simply because I don”t want any ads whatsoever to appear on my blog. Also, a lot of my readers are not regular readers, so they wouldn’t be logged in.

Yes. Thanks so much. We are aware of what the support documentation states and thekowalkerjourney stated he was aware of the no-ads option in his original post above.
