WordPress is not letting me have my old domain back?
-
For some reason, perhaps WordPress upon deletion holds domain names for a certain period before they are released to be used again, but due to this I am unable to change my username and blog address back to those that I had previously.
I believe both are still free, as upon searching for them I am given a ‘no longer available’ with the reason that ‘the authors have deleted this site’. I believe both the domain and the authors in questions are in reference to mine and myself.
Also in my settings, my web-address is still set to the address which I wish to re-obtain.
I would be grateful is anyone knows how to resolve this? Or if I could perhaps contact a member of the IT team for example?
Many Thanks.

That’s not possible. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to reuse its WordPress.com address. If you delete a blog you will not be able to get it back and no one else will be able to use that blog address. You must be sure you never want to use the blog again if you delete it.
There are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent. A verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If you clicked it and the blog was deleted it’s game over. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
However, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

I didn’t realise that I would not be allowed the blog URL upon deletion.
Thank you for clearing that up for me, it’s very much appreciated.
