WordPress issues

So the only way to talk to them is to use the forum where I’ve already made a complaint and they’ve decided to give up on helping? It’s been Three weeks and two days since I posted my complaint there. That’s a huge problem with WordPress self-hosted, you can never get the support you need

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/latest-update-has-caused-things-to-stop-working/

The problem with the forum is that other users are who you have to rely on for help. But who actually creates the WordPress dashboard updates for both WordPress.org and WordPress.com? Or is the whole dashboard for both WordPress.org and WordPress.com 100% user created?

  • But who actually creates the WordPress dashboard updates for both WordPress.org

That would be the folks at https://make.wordpress.org

    and WordPress.com

    We build ours under https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso

Or is the whole dashboard for both WordPress.org and WordPress.com 100% user created?

WordPress.org is free software, built and supported entirely by volunteers, and backed by donations to a non-profit foundation.

WordPress.com is a product of Automattic, a for-profit business. WordPress.com utilizes the WordPress.org software with several customizations built and supported by paid staff.

I only have one option to get it fixed and that’s to talk to the paid staff members, and given that the problems on both platforms started at the same time, likely have the same cause, and actually share some of the same issues, then the paid staff likely would know how to fix it because their customisations kept the issues that exist in both versions.

Plus, they would have made customisations on the pervious version that fixed the issues I complained about over a year ago so they would be familiar with the code for both versions and both updates, so how do I ask that team for help so I can end the nightmare that is using WordPress for self-hosting and their never resolved issues?

  • and given that the problems on both platforms started at the same time

We have already confirmed that the navigation issue you described cannot be reproduced on WordPress.com, so there is nothing for us to fix.

You can report a bug to WordPress.org’s developers by following the steps at https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/testing/reporting-bugs/

    Hi,

By navigation issue you mean the plugin menus options not responding in the sidebar when creating or editing posts?

And the disappearing of the featured image that randomly occurs after saving a draft or scheduling new posts? You can do that on one post a dozen times and the image will be there, then all of a sudden you’ll do it and it’s just gone from the featured image section of the sidebar and from the post. However, it’ll still be selected when you go to readd the featured image. Did you test that issue on WordPress.com blog?

That is correct, we cannot reproduce these issues on WordPress.com, so there won’t be anything we can fix with regards to them.

They appear to be either uniquely WordPress.org issues, or it could be a third-party conflict with a running plugin or even the theme’s function.
