wordpress landing page

I have set up a site using a free template. It took me a while to do this and I had several goes. I now have a site which I am almost happy with. However something curious is hapopening. If I use my browser and search jacquigallon.wordpress.com site comes up as it should do. If I do this as a google search, however, which is probably how anyone looking for me would search, then the search result initially a yields a home page with an old image and a number. It is only when you begin to negotiate the site and then go back to the home page that the correct image and info comes up. Can anyone help please? At the moment I cannot refer my contacts to the site.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

What you’re seeing in Google search results are attachment pages.

    Example: https://jacquigallon.wordpress.com/img_8166-001/

WordPress creates a page for each image when it’s attached to a page or post.

To make your home page outrank the attachment pages, I’d recommend adding more useful text to the home page – there’s only one short quote on it at the moment.

If Google thinks that the home page is a more relevant result for a search query, it will appear higher in the rankings – but it’s going to need useful, relevant text on the home page for that to happen.

You should also work on getting some inbound links to the home page.

Please note that when you make changes to the site, it may take Google several weeks before it recrawls the site and updates its info.
