WordPress layouts not working on either chrome or firefox
-
I’ve been having issues with seeing wordpress layouts for the past week. At first, I thought it was just my own, but I am having trouble with several different blogs, including the Daily Post. I’ve tried switching from Chrome to Firefox, and some blog layouts now work, but most still don’t. I’ve also tried clearing caches and cookies.
My own dashboard also looked abnormal, and it’s been taking a long time to load my sites. Right now, it’s not loading them at all.

(a) I’m not entirely sure what you mean by device, but I think I have a broadband connection? I use XFinity.
(b) I use Chrome 47.0.2526.106I’ve tried to follow most of the list, but I couldn’t enable HTTPS since the instructions for Chrome were for Mac and I couldn’t fully follow them since it looks different on my computer than it does in the screenshots.

Hello thegirlwhohopes!
It looks like you can’t load the CSS on your WordPress.com pages. That sounds like a network issue. Sometimes, a provider will have blocked (or cannot load for some reason) the CSS file served by a web server. Sometimes issues like that are regional. Did you try on a different computer? I suggest you test on a different network, like on your cellphone. And if you can, on a different location too, like a coffee shop.
Let me know how it goes.
-
Hi,
I’ve tried loading it at a different location and with a different network and was still getting the same thing. I tried it on my phone, using this same different network, and it works fine.
It looks like it’s an issue with my computer?
-
@thegirlwhohopes, usually workplaces or educational institution networks can block this sites. Are you at an university network? If so, I suggest you ask the IT department if WordPress.com and other social media are blocked for some reason.
If you move to a different network, like a coffee shop, and have your computer and your phone connected to the same wi-fi, and your phone loads your site, but your computer not, your computer probably have some kind of blocker. You can check for some firewall or another software setup that’s blocking WordPress.com.
-
I am using my home network, and I have McAfee and Adblock Plus enabled. But I’ve tried disabling the McAfee firewall and ABP, and I still am unable to see the formatting on WordPress sites. I even tried turning off Windows Firewall. I can’t think of what else would be blocking WordPress.
Do you have any other suggestions as to what I can do? I can’t properly view any WordPress site on Chrome, and it’s getting to be very frustrating.
-
thegirlwhohopes, on your home network, are you able to see your site correctly using your phone in the same network (not mobile network)?
Which operating system are you using on your computer?
Are you having this problem using other browsers?
-
Yes, I can see it correctly on my phone.
I’m on a 64-bit operating system (Intel Celeron processor), and I’m having the same issue with other browsers. On Mozilla, some pages show up normally, but not others (including my own site).
-
thegirlwhohopes, that can be related to a browser extension too. Could you, please, try to disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily and load your site again?
-
-
thegirlwhohopes, are you using Windows? If so, which version?
And which is the Chrome version? You can check on the link below:
-
-
thegirlwhohopes, we tested your situation with different OS and browsers, but we didn’t get the same result… Unfortunately, it’s hard to determine the source of this issue without looking into your computer… Since we weren’t able to replicate the issue, I suggest you contact a computer expert to look into your computer to see what can be causing this blocking issue.
-
I think that the issue started after I upgraded to the latest version of Windows 10. Do you think that may be the main problem?
Has other people been reporting similar issues and how were they resolved?
-
I don’t think so, we are not receiving other reports… And we tested with the same environment and it worked…
