WordPress Like Button
-
For some reason the Like button never loads on the sites I visit. All the other buttons (facebook, twitter, etc.) load fine. Any suggestions on how to fix this. I use FireFox as my browser.
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Considering how MANY people have written about this topic, you’d think that WP would understand that the bloggers find value in this little button and not make it a G spot.

HELLO! I see a like button on your blog exactly where it’s supposed to be at the end of each posts when the post title is clicked and that post display on its own page. I already answered you here > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/like-button-missing-or-loading?replies=3#post-1469149 -
P.S. Hopefully, you know that likes are not page view stats. They may make you feel warm and fuzzy but that’s where it ends.
Likes, shares and reblogs are completely misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like”, “share” and “reblog” your posts in several locations such as the Reader, without ever clicking into your blog and creating a single page view stat.
You can control the length of the entry sent out on your RSS feed here > Settings > Reading. Choose the “summary” setting for your RSS feed rather than to “full text”. That will compel followers who are not using mobiles to click into the blog to read the full post which will create a page view stat.
Visitors using a mobile can read the full post without creating a page view stat. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-reader-show-full-text?replies=31#post-1373606
Note that setting the RSS Feed to summary does not affect the length of the post displayed on the front page or main page for posts on the blog. To create excerpts there we can split content by inserting “the more tag” http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
Also note that you can disable “Sharing” on the same page:
Settings > Reading
Add to each article in your feed:
Categories
Tags
Comment count
Sharing
Changes may not appear until you create a new post or your news reader refreshes. -
I can always see the button it just usually says “loading” on my own posts as well as on other blogs no matter how long I wait. I just wondered if it was a setting issue with my browser. I would say 98% of the time it says loading and not clickable. Seems like there is nothing I can do about it.

Yes, that does sound like a browser related issue.1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

@timethief: thank you for your reply, it is appreciated. I didn’t know you would have to click on a title in order to get that. Since my blogs are not in summary, I would not expect someone to have to click on it to read the entire story since it’s already in it’s entirety. But, good to know.
On the other hand .. whether or not the Like button has value for stats isn’t the point. If WE the bloggers find value in it and we do, then it is important to us. The point for us is that is gives us feedback that someone did read the post and that they enjoyed it. Just viewing a post doesn’t mean it was read, doesn’t mean they liked it, it just means someone was there. That has less value in some ways. Not everyone wants to comment, but a quick ‘like’ has value. I’ve had hits on my pages but no idea whatsoever if anyone likes them, so I have no feedback to their actual value. Am I simply talking to myself? Are my posts being summarily dismissed? Am I just walking down the wrong path … I need/want/value that kind of feedback from a LIKE button.
For me, I will change my posts to be summaries, that way they will have to click to the full article and maybe people will start clicking. It may be just a warm/fuzzy to you, but who doesn’t like warm/fuzzies? It’s kinda like not getting the pony you wanted for your birthday, but a warm hug from your favorite cousin might just suffice.
Thanks for listening.
