WordPress link from Twitter badly displayed
-
Hi,
On my Android phone, when i press the link i published on Twitter to a WordPress post, the post is badly displayed (e.g. enlarged images, right-to-left Hebrew misaligned).
I verified that the ‘Use in-app browser’ Twitter setting is OFF, so i expect the post to be opened in my default browser (Firefox, where it opens well). But that does not seem to happen.
Tweet example: https://mobile.twitter.com/OrigRami17/status/1567747968219889664
Ideas appreciated & thank you in advance,

Hi there,
I tested this on my iPhone and can confirm that the link to your site opened up in the Twitter app for me. However, it did seem to show in the correct RTL orientation.
To clarify, are you clicking on that link from your Twitter app? Or are you visiting Twitter on your mobile browser, and clicking on the link in your tweet from there?
Also I noticed (I am not sure this is related) that you have your “default mobile theme) enabled here: https://stanga17.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=mobile-options
We recommend that you turn this off (Enable set to “no”) so that it does not interfere. This setting is for themes that are not compatible with mobile, but your them is, so this is not needed and shows a generic view of your site on mobile, instead of a mobile version of the current theme with your branding and colors.
Thanks!

Thank you staff-totoro,
I am clicking the link from within the Twitter app. As mentioned, the post is displayed in a malformed way – the section sign is very large, the right-to-left text is misaligned, e.g. the end of line dot is on the right whereas it should be on the left, hebrew-english lines get all mixed up, list does appearon the left whereas they should appear on the right – all these symptoms disappear when i press the “visit site” option on this page and the post is rendered normally.
As per your recommendation, i have turned of the option in the link you pasted.
Cheers

Hello Rami,
Many thanks for reaching back out and providing that extra information.
To check, does turning off that option resolve things on the site?
Also, are you able to provide a screenshot of what you’re seeing please? This can be shared via a link from https://snipboard.io/.
Lastly, if you visit the blog post directly in the browser, (completely bypassing Twitter) does everything appear as it should?

Thank you aleone89!
Disabling the default mobile theme option does not change the behaviour i am experiencing.
The uploaded screenshot shows the problem (left side) and the expected display (right side). You can see it here: https://snipboard.io/4wthFD.jpg
The expected display can be seen after clicking “visit site” (icon/menu option …) on the left-hand screen or by opening the post directly on Firefox (on my mobile device).
Cheers

Thanks for those screenshots, that helps!
It looks like the “broken” version is opening directly in the WordPress.com app.
In Android, you can disable the “open supported links” for each app in the app settings.
Go to Settings -> Apps and in the apps list find the WordPress app and open it. There should be a setting called “open by default” – if you click on that, you can turn off that setting. Then, any WordPress.com links will open in your chosen browser.
Regarding the RTL error in the app, that looks like a bug because it should support the RTL format. Please reach out to the app support team at mobile-support@automattic.com so they can look into that for you.
I hope that helps!

Thank you heroponriki
Indeed that helped! I wasn’t ware of this setting and wasn’t even aware the post was displayed on the WordPress app (i was under the impression that the post previews displayed while editing are relevant to both WordPress app and browsers).
I cannot see the support team mail though, it says “email visible only to moderators and staff”.
Cheers

Cheers blorbo,
E-mail sent.
Probably this thread can be marked as resolved as the WP app display issue will be dealt separately.
Many thanks to all who helped out!
