    WordPress links no longer working for http://blog.oldchinabooks.com/

    WP site links to posts do not work
    Widgit links do not work (such as Categories)
    External links to posts from Google do not work (that’s when s Google search brings up a link to a WP post)

    Site stats show the site stopped working about four weeks ago (May 24 2019)
    June 12 2019 could not access site due to “could not establish DB connection”
    After running through all the old fixes, finally restored DB from Dec 2018
    Site still would not load – got message PHP had to be updated – changed from ver 5.3
    to 7.2 (at Yahoo Web Hosting)
    WP insisted on update to WP 5.2.1 before allowing site to come up – did that
    Removed all plugins
    Refreshed permalinks
    Still:
    On site links to posts do not work
    Widgit links do not work (such as Categories)
    External links to posts from Google do not work

    Update June 15 2019
    Firefox and Chrome get ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS when linking to oldchinabooks sites, such as https://oldchinabooks.com/YangShen_eBook_Blog/2018/05/29/extraordinary-biography-of-one-of-the-first-old-china-hands/
    The error returned is 301 Moved Permanently
    The WordPress site, to my knowledge, has not been moved, migrated, nor has the Yahoo server changed (again, to my knowledge).
    So why can the URL links in the WordPress site no longer be located either by Google or WordPress?
    Permalinks have been reset
    Plugins have been removed (except for one for the old editor)
    There is no .htaccess file (this is a Yahoo server)

    Have posted to several forums and most have not replied.
    The single reply I have replied about resetting permalinks with Settings/Permallinks is not a solution that has any effect on the problems set forth above.

    Hi @oldchinabooks, sounds like you’ve really been through it.

    Unfortunately these forums are for the free sites using our managed hosting service, which can be quite different from running your own WordPress installation at another host.

    You might try double checking your General Settings URLs for the site and the blog. That’s sometimes the culprit with “redirected you too many times” errors. More info here:

    Or, your host may be able to restore a backup from when it last worked.
