  In the past when I make a new post, the post has the WordPress Logo (the white W in a blue circle next to the post). Today, I noticed the post has a lavender color box with what seems like connect-the-dots within the box (I am noticing this for the WordPress post to my Facebook page).

  I am not sure if I did something to change the appearance or not. Is this a change from WordPress? If no, is it possible for me to get the standard WordPress logo (the white W within the blue circle)?

  This help page explains how images get sent to social media sites such as Facebook when you are using the Publicize feature:

  From your description, it sounds like what you saw was your Gravatar image:
  http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/2f356c44f4466964835c9e95ad35967c?s=48&d=identicon&r=g
