Hi there,
All WordPress.com users can choose among several options for the footer credit, from a minimalist WordPress.com logo to text options like “A WordPress.com Website” or “Powered by WordPress.com.”
To do the same, kindly follow the process mentioned here.Although, Sites on any plan other than Business plan are required to keep the footer credit intact. On those sites, you may choose from one of the alternative wordings or the WordPress icon.
Hope this helps!! :)

Hi Smitsahatiya! oh yes! I am a “beginner” and am trying to test my abilities before upgrading the site… I do not mean the footer credits but a sort of second menu with no tag names but the round “favicons” of WordPress instead of the navigation label names….

Ah, that’s because you’ve set that as your social menu. They’re getting WordPress logos because they’re WordPress pages.
The social menu is intended for listing off things like your Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, etc accounts.
Instead, switch the menu type or location: https://wordpress.com/support/menus/
