WORDPRESS LOGS ME OUT

  • Unknown's avatar

WordPress keeps logging me out. Sometimes I can stay in long enough to answer comments, sometimes not. It started 12 hours ago. The last time it happened I spent a long time trying to fix it only to find out it was a WordPress issue. is it the same this time? I have just switched from Google to Firefox though I have used Firefox before so it should not be an issue.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • It is a security measure to log you out if your session has been idle for long time.

It does ask me to enter my username, password and security code ( I have 2 step verification enabled) if I leave my computer idle for long time after logging in to my Admin Dashboard.

Sweetheart, read the post. Its logging me off within seconds. It logs me off WHILE I AM USING IT. I am posting about a problem not a feature of any online program.

  • WordPress.com will not log you out abruptly. There must be something else going on your computer. Thank you.

Total bull. It happened before and WordPress told me they were having log in problems and when they’d fixed their log in problem I no longer had that problem. To me that says that WordPress can have log in problems. If there were problems on my lap top thered be problems with other programs. There’s not. I need support for this real issue. If you don’t have anything to offer in support please don’t reply.

This is a volunteer forum so please be nice to us! There will be some issues that we just don’t have any insight into and from your previous post on the subject it looks like this is one of them. I’ve flagged this post for a member of staff to look at as they seemed to get everything sorted for you last time.

Fair enough, I understand and apologies but of course it will make me leery of bringing an issue here in future if volunteers solve my problem by telling me I don’t have one. For me that wasn’t helpful but like you say you’re volunteers and trying your best I suppose. Unfortunately the WordPress people are only dealing with problems of paying customers right now. My issue is ongoing.

In fact the vast and overwhelming majority of all support questions posted here are answered by Volunteers. I am among the two longest serving volunteers with over 8 years service, and as we two predate all but one Staff member even being on Staff I can say that with total confidence. I can also remind you of this:

__We love positive and productive discussions, so please keep comments on the topics at hand and not on other members of the community. Thanks!

Would you like to provide some specifics for Staff to work with please? If so, then please work through what follows and report back your results for Staff.

I have tried some of these things and can sort that stuff myself. I just wanted to know if WordPress had been having log in issues as they did the last time when the issue was identical before I spend hours or days~like I did the last time~fixing something that was unfixable at my end but you either you can’t tell me that or there’s no issue at the WordPress end so that’s all we can do here I guess. Thank you for your time. I am having trouble staying logged in long enough to deal with my blog so I won’t come back up here. As I said I am sure you’re all doing your best and I too like positive and productive discussion. Regards.

There are no such known issues with any ISPs at this time.

    Hi there,

There aren’t any ongoing login issues on WordPress.com right now. You mentioned that you recently switched to Firefox. Can you please check to make sure you have cookies (including third-party cookies) enabled in Firefox? Those cookies keep you logged in while you navigate around WordPress.com and sites hosted on WordPress.com.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes I had all those things done and now I have switched back to Chrome and still it continues. Today I can’t access the reader or my stats. I have cleared and enabled cookies etc etc. If I get a day free some time I may be able to investigate further but for now I am not asking for help as you guys have said the problem is with my lap top. It doesn’t seem to be causing problems in any other program or anything else and the thing is regularly scanned and debugged but I just want to put this here for other people with the same problem.

I have recently seen a thread from earlier this year where people with similar problems found out that WordPress had been blocked by ISP providers causing log in problems so maybe thats a possibility.

I have also seen a thread from the 10th of October from some people who say the log in procedures have changed for them though WordPress says it is not so.

WordPress has been great, wonderful to have a provider like this but it is becoming harder to use and problems are not apparently resolvable. I can’t access bloggers I follow via WordPress and I can’t see my stats or replies to comments on other peoples blogs. I’ll struggle on for a while but its Blogger for me soon or i’ll just have to write a blog into my own site.

    Bye.

I’m interested to know where you are located. Maybe you have an issue at your ISP’s end of things. Would you like to share where you are please?
