WordPress "Lost" My 2020 Theme

This site has had the Twenty Twenty theme installed for several months.
Today I was doing some simple editing, and the site seemed to “lose” its theme.
Now it appears to have NO theme at all.
I posted 3 screen captures on this site: https://WpIssues2021.wordpress.com .
The 1st screen capture shows the apparent “lack” of a theme.

FIXING IT:I assume I can FIX this site by re-installing the theme.
But before I do that, I wanted to ASK — if anyone else has encountered this problem.
(I searched for “wordpress.com lost my theme”, but cannot find any complaints similar to this problem that I am having.)

Hi there,
Themes on WordPress.com sites work a little bit differently than on WordPress sites hosted elsewhere.
All the themes available in our library are installed on a site and when you select one it gets activated and applied to the site.
So, what you’re describing seems like an issue with how the theme is applied to your site. However, I see that now you have selected a different theme for that site and I cannot check what might be wrong with it.
Furthermore, I activated the Twenty Twenty theme on one of my sites and I couldn’t replicate the issue you described.
Can you please let me know if this happens again when you activate that theme again on that specific site?

CLARIFICATION: After I submitted the ticket — I did NOT change this theme.
Either the site “changed the theme itself?? somehow”, or somebody at WordPress changed it — to the ‘Karuna’ theme.
QUESTION: Does this sound “believable”??

But I didn’t change it; I was intending to leave the site in its “broken” state — until someone had a chance to examine.
I’ve now changed it back to Twenty Twenty theme.

UPDATE: This website still seems to be MALFUNCTIONING.
PROBLEM: When I try to customize the theme, it seems now to be NOT saving my changes.
QUESTION: Can you test this site — and tell me whether or not, it will save theme customization changes for you ??

DETAILSExample 1:
* I use “Appearance -> Customize -> COLORS” to change the background color from the Twenty Twenty default color of #f5efe0 (light brown) to #d1e4dd (light green).
* Then I click “Save Changes” as I normally do.
* However, the background color is still brown. The theme seems to be NOT saving any changes, even though I am clicking the “Save Changes” button as I normally do.
(I have tried “clearing cache”, and switching browsers from Safari to Opera, and the problem seems to persist.)
* The same thing seems to happen if I change the “Custom Color” to change the links to blue; the theme appears to NOT save my changes.

Example 2:* The same thing happens if I use Appearance -> Customize -> Site Identity and try to add a LOGO (selecting ‘favicon-macintaglio21cb.png’ from the Media gallery (the 2nd from the last image)).
* Then I click “Save Changes” as I normally do. But the theme does not seem to save the changes.

Example 4:* If I update the MENU, and save changes — the theme seems to be NOT saving the Menu changes.

I already got the problem too. Now I am waiting for the problem to get resolved (I have sent a ticket support).
Currently some of my themes are broken and WP automaticaly choose the theme for me.
The problem happens everytime I click “save change” on Advanced General setting -> my blog showing blank page -> several minutes later it change to unbroken theme yet..

Hi there,
This is a bug, but it should be fixed as of a few hours ago.
@jamesingram17701, just to confirm, are you still unable to save any Customizer changes? Can you check if clearing the browser cache or using another browser makes any difference? It could be the code that caused the bug is still cached in your browser, which would explain why the fix isn’t working for you yet.
@diakhir, same question as I asked James above. And can you please provide the URL of your site that’s being affected by this? -

right now I use Radcliffe 2
more detail:
(1) the broken theme are 2021, 2020, spearhead, libre 2, some themes I need to check 1 by 1 .
(1) I think I accidentally found TT1-blocks & blocks theme in the theme directory. But now they dissapeared.

FYI: I just tried to change background color on my site (https://macintaglio.wordpress.com) at about 6 pm Arizona time, and it stills seems to be “forgetting” my changes.

DETAILS:
I tried to change color from default light brown to green, and change link colors from red to blue.
When I exit the ‘customizer’, then go back into the customizer, the colors still show as the defaults, i.e., the theme is apparently still NOT saving my changes.THANKS.

Correct, our team is still working on resolving this issue, and since it is affecting many other site owners as well it has been prioritized by our devs. I do not have an update on when it will be fixed, but as soon as we have an update we will let you know here.
