WordPress lost my paid domain?
-
My registered WordPress-domain crossfithelsinki.com seems to be disappeared without any notifications! It was working yesterday (8.14.) but suddenly later that day it was gone.
Anyone else experiencing the same? The staff seems to be brainstorming and returning tomorrow (8.16). Is it related to the recent updates?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ll tag this thread so that staff (hopefully) sees it and will respond, but I just did a “whois” on your domain, and the name servers are not pointing to wordpress.COM, they are pointing here:
NS29.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
NS30.DOMAINCONTROL.COMYou need to first check that your domain mapping did not expire, and then you need to go into your godaddy domain management panel and repoint the domain back to wordpress.com.
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMhttp://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

@wnder, tsp is correct. I reviewed your account. You need to point your nameservers back to the WordPress.com nameservers listed above to fix the issue.

Thanks! I know for sure that the domain mapping hasn’t expired. I’ll check the links.
Again, thanks for the replies.

Okay, it seems that WordPress has totally lost my domain. It’s just gone from my WordPress bloglist, like it never existed! The missing domain crossfithelsinki.com is guided to another blog- address of mine. Of course all the links on the lost domain won’t open.
I hope there’s a way to recover it.

Now it seems my domain crossfithelsinki.com is gone to Indonesia (even though I don’t understand why would they be interested in such words as “crossfit” and Finnish capital “helsinki”, duh) and therefore I don’t see how could I get it back.
I seriously hope WordPress is going to compensate this, this is no joke anymore.

Yeah, I noticed that. The domain is now being shown in one place as registered through GoDaddy, but in another place as registered through Wild West Domains.
That is why I asked where they originally registered the domain. If the OP didn’t transfer it, then it has been hijacked – stolen.
-
And the nameservers are now showing as
Name Server: NS1.ARANDOMSERVER.COM
Name Server: NS2.ARANDOMSERVER.COM -
Hi, It wasn`t stolen. I am not too expert in wordpress.com but here is the fact:
You host your site in free platform wordpress.com, you use paid domain name. You forget to renewal domain name, that the main reason for all of this. Why you not just call godaddy and ask why there`s no notification whatsoever when domain nearly expired.
Oh, one more: Did you know when the domain has to be renew?
-
I think it is best if we wait for staff to respond to this issue again. If it was registered through GoDaddy by wnder, then it will have to take it up with them. If it was registered originally with WordPress (via Wild West Domains) then they will have to take it up with staff here.
No one knows because we do not have all the information. Staff will sort it out.

The renewal date of the lost domain was in july. I know WordPress sents regulary notifications if something is going to expire. I’ve been keeping up with the dates and paid everything in time so no chance there.
I registered the .com domain via WordPress. I’ve never been in any contact to GoDaddy.
@auxclass “A whois shows the record updated on Aug 15, 2010”
That’s the strange thing. The domain was still working that day and I didn’t do any updates!

@wnder, wait for staff to respond and let them do some investigation on this. Do you have the paypal receipt from when you renewed the domain name? That will be important. Staff I expect can backtrack, but if you have it, that will make things faster.
If not, go to your paypal account and find it and get a copy (make a PDF of it if you can).
-
There also should have been a notice posted in the dashboard of your blog when it was getting close to renewal time.
