WordPress & meta tags.
-
I use wordpress.com and have bought the service so that when typing my domain instead of the wordpress url my blog comes up. But I dont see any title on my site and i guess there is no other meta tags on it, how can I add meta tags on it? Is it the same as before, adding a text on widget and just typing the meta tags?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The site linked to your name is not a WordPress.com site, and we won’t be able to help you with that. Please give us the link to your WordPress.com site, starting with http.

Thanks. You put the title of the blog on the page Settings->General on your dashboard. As for tags, at WP.com you apply tags to posts, not to your blog as a whole:
-
Ok
I added the title but now the title is placed in front of the logo making it look bad.. What do I do about that?

Change the design of your header. It’s far more important to have that filled out than to keep the original header design. Seriously, you NEED that title box filled in if you ever want search engines to find you.
If you have the CSS upgrade and know CSS editing, you could make the text invisible; on some themes, you can change the colour of the text to the same as the background as well.

I have CSS upgrade but dont know how to make the title invisible.. could someone give me the code?
-
You’re generally cautioned not to buy the CSS upgrade unless you already know how to edit CSS. You’re pretty much on your own with it.
-
You won’t get any css help from WordPress but you could try in the CSS forum:
-
@holkapolka: You don’t need CSS and you don’t need to alter the design of your header image. Type the blog title in Settings>General (so that search engines can see it), then go to Appearance > Header > Display Text, select No, click Save Changes.

Will you please replace the link from your wordpress.COM username to that site it’s linked to now by deleting that link and replacing it with a link to your wordpress.com blog? That way we aren’t wasting our time clicking on a link to a site we do not provide support for. Here’s how to link your wordpress.COM blog to your wordpress.COm usernanme. Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Revisiting an old post on metatags, re a person was trying to insert a matatag for google site verification … The post was closed unresolved in 2009
2009…”@sudiipm: Try to read before you post. To the question “where do I paste the Metatag in wordpress.com” I replied: “You don’t.” And I explained: “Meta tags would have to be added in the underlying theme files. In wp.COM we don’t have access to those files.” Doesn’t get any clearer than that. No meta tags at wordpress.COM, as tsp says.”
I thought it worth mentioning that you can add a metatag for the purpose of site ownership….
