WordPress missed schedule error

Since yesterday (October 19th), my second website http://ertvc.wordpress.com is facing ‘Missed schedule’ issues, where I’m monitoring which ones are in trouble and re-publish manually – an option nothing useful, due the schedule feature.

Unfortunately I’m not able to install any apps to correct this once my websites are under free version. Please let me know if this is a temporary issue.

    Sincerely yours,

    Hi there,

If I’m understanding you correctly, are your schedule posts not publishing at the time which you set them? There’s two main reasons for this:

    1) Please check that your blog is set to the intended timezone of your own: https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/time-settings/

    2) Bare in mind that scheduled posts need to be triggered by someone visiting your site after the scheduled time. This is rarely an issue for more popular blogs, but there can sometimes be a delay on blogs with less traffic.

That being said, I’ve tagged WordPress.com staff to confirm if this is an unusual issue.

    Thank you. :)

Thanks for your reply, and I understood your suggestion. I figured something about this, but wasn’t the reason once my main website (ertvm.wordpress.com) has the same settings and it’s working with no problems.

As matter of fact, early this year we faced the same issue but on main website, when some posts wasn’t published due the ‘missed schedule’ – solved two days after I’ve questioned about it (I don’t know if solved automatically or by some intervention).

Once more thanks for your reply and for tagging WordPress staff.

This is what’s happening in http://ertvc.wordpress.com, about ‘Missed Schedule’:

While this issue continues, I’m posting manually the missed schedule posts. It’s not the right alternative to me, once I don’t have available all days of the week

  • Hi there,

Looking at your site the most likely explanation is the sheer number of posts you have scheduled – you currently have over 2600 posts scheduled for more than a year in advance, with a new post publishing every two hours. The post scheduling feature is simply not designed to be used in this way, so it’s to be expected that it would fail occasionally.

We don’t recommend scheduling more than 100 posts at a time, as also mentioned on https://en.support.wordpress.com/schedule-a-post/ and as you were advised the last time you contacted us for help with this.

    Kind regards
