WordPress Multisite and the Windows IIS and URL Redirects not working
-
Hello,
I hope there are a few Windows WordPress Geeks out there.
Here is the story, we have moved our WordPress installs on campus, we have gone from RackSpace which is on a Lynx server to Windows using IIS. I am not going to go into the change but it is the option I have.
The Multi-sites work fine but we have a number of URLs that redirect to areas such as abcd.school.edu which would redirect to school.missouri.edu/abcd on the WordPress side. I have moved the DNS and they do come to the new server but I am not able to get the redirects to work in the IIS, although I know I have the redirect rule correct.
They simply go to the main page for the site. I think the WordPress rules are grabbing the traffic before the redirects have chance to do their job. I have tried moving these rules up to the top of the Web.Config but it does not work.
Any Ideas??
Please do not say move to Lynx…….

Hi there,
While we have all sorts of WordPress geeks here, there isn’t much that I can help you with, I’m afraid. You have landed on the forum for WordPress.com rather than WordPress.org, which is where you want to be since your site is self-hosted.
I did take a look and in case you haven’t seen it, there’s a codex article which at least starts to delve in to issues with the URL Rewrite Module:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Permalinks_without_mod_rewrite
But other than that, you’re going to want to check out the .org forums here:
http://wordpress.org/support/view/all-topics
Best of luck to you!
