WordPress needs work

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I asked in chat here on wordpress.com to get help on a specific issue, and I was directed to make a topic about it on the forum on wordpress.org, however after waiting for about a day, I got spam as a reply from probably a spambot. I assume this is not the image that wordpress would like to be giving their customers so my question would be, wouldn’t it be nice to level up the way you guys work any time soon? And if so, if I could be of any help in that regard. It is a shame to see such a nice platform be ruined by the stupidity of the internet. I don’t know how I could possibly help but I would appreciate to have a cleaner way of being able to communicate and work with wordpress as a platform that helps me do my job.

    Kind regards,
    Amir Abdullah.

Wordpress.com is a place that hosts sites just like Bluehost Godaddy etc. If you have your site hosted here you can get support for it here as you would be a customer right here. If your site just uses the free wordpress software and is hosted somewhere else then unless your host offers support the only other place you can ask is the .org forums

That’s really nice however does that imply that I have to deal with spambots all over the place and not get an answer at all to my inquiries? If that is the case then I would call that sad at least. That’s what I’m referring to in this post, not the issue that I have with my site. I assumed this was the right place to talk about that.?

I don’t want to ask this question, which is not a support question but a question related to WordPress’s support, to a forum full of spambots, I assume I won’t get a serious answer there either in that regard. Please read well what I write, and don’t assume what I mean and try to direct me somewhere else, I’m a person asking a legitimate question here.

If you’re not the person to give me an answer then just say that instead or don’t answer at all. I’m not looking for smartass answers that don’t actually answer my questions.

  • Please don’t be rude to our volunteers, themagicrobot was trying to help, and based on your duplicate thread https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/multisite-subdomain-issues/ they’re right.

https://diy-workshop.gr is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.

With all that said, I see your post over at https://wordpress.org/support/topic/issues-with-subdomain-redirection/ got a reply from a spammer. I have asked the moderators over there to remove that.

WordPress.org is provided for free, developed and supported entirely by volunteers. Someone will reply to you there when they can.

It was not duplicate, it was two different things I was posting about. Please even if you are not a bot, read a bit better what I’m writing about.

Volunteer or not, .com or .org, I don’t see much interest in actually reading what a post is about. Please learn how to read and respond to what I’m asking and not take my posts as duplicate just because your wishful thinking and the answer you might want to give is the same. I’m asking something totally different in this post than in the other, my other post was the same topic as what I asked on .org, not as what I asked in this post. Please don’t confuse things. That’s bad support either way.

Get real. This is exactly what I’m touching upon in this post. I have done customer service in the past and what I see here is total amateurism. That’s what I’m touching upon in this post. Get your stuff together and provide better support, or change your support so it works better, either way, re-read my post so you understand what I’m saying and don’t give me answers that have nothing to do with my questions. Thanks.

  • Hello there,

I understand that issues with websites can be frustrating.

To summarise – http://diy-workshop.gr/ is not on WordPress.com, this means that we can’t help with this website.

You would need to speak to the theme and plugin developers, or the hosting provider for assistance with the website.

https://wordpress.org/support/ is also an awesome resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

I hope this clears up any confusion.

The confusion keeps being from your side. Again, I made two seperate posts for a reason. Learn to actually read. So no as long as you don’t clear up the confusion on your part the confusion on your part is still there. Ugh…..

The insistence. It’s not about my diy-workshop.gr site, it’s about how you do your job over at wordpress. .com or .org, I don’t care, to me it’s the same, it’s both “wordpress” as an organization or company or whatever. Learn to read, this is really a shame.

  • Again, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

And, here’s the documentation about that from WordPress.org’s end: https://wordpress.org/support/article/wordpress-vs-wordpress-com/

WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
