WordPress No Longer Transfers Formatting From MS Word
-
When I used to add new posts to WP, I would simply copy and paste them from the MS Word document where the originally appeared. All of my formatting for follow without *too much* of a problem.
But just a few days ago, I noted that all of my formatting no longer carries over, and it’s all rendered into the generic WP format. It’s terribly annoying…
Has anyone else noticed this?

@steven, I just did a test pasting directly into the wordpress editor from MS Word, and all of the messy code that I have come to expect from Word was transferred over. I even did a save just to make sure it wasn’t stripped out. I’m on Mac 10.5.6 using MS Word 2004 and tried both in Safari 3.2.1 and in Firefox 3.0.10.
My suggestion for you, if you are on Windows, is to download and install the Windows Live Writer blog client which is free, and it will give you all the control you want over fonts and sizes and such, but does it in a web compliant way, which is a good thing. The added bonus is that it keeps copies of your posts on your computer, and it also will upload your posts (and images) directly to your blog without the need of copying and pasting.
