wordpress noob needs basic direction.. help :)
-
Hey guys,
I’m new to the forum and wordpress.I’ve been asked to build a relatively simple single page scroller for a workspace start up. I’ve been given an adobe illustrator file and am wondering the best process and programs/ plugins to use.
I have adobe creative cloud and wordpress.Any advise on the first steps to get me started would be much appreciated or where i can go to learn/educate myself to get me rolling in the right direction.
I have a time scale of six months so hopefully this is plausible?!
What do you guys think?
Thanks

So you’re talking about a different site to the one linked to this account you are posting from? I would say building a site right here is the solution if you want a
a relatively simple single page
Here you can get started in minutes not months. Anything built elsewhere will meean using the wordpress software and the only support will be from volunteers at

Hi Rob,
If you already have the copy and media assets for the site, you should be able to spin up a site like you describe within a few days.
If you prefer the blank slate approach, start with our Blank Canvas theme, or you can use one of our single page themes here that are essentially Blank Canvas with a template and some extra styling applied:
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/single-page
With these themes you’ll be doing the entire design in the block editor. We have an overview of how the editor works here:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/
When you create a new page, you’ll have the option to select a template for the page, and there’s several templates available for single-page sites:
https://wordpress.com/support/page-layouts/
Selecting a layout will add the blocks to the page to create the layout, and then you can add your own content into the blocks.
The themes at that list should also all support our page templates feature, that gives you more options to create a particular layout:
https://wordpress.com/support/templates/
You can also create your own layouts by using block patterns to insert a preconfigured set of blocks to add a new section to an existing page/layout:
https://wordpress.com/support/block-pattern/
And from there it’s just inserting your own content and tweaking things to look the way you want it to.
We have support pages for all the different blocks in the editor, but if you have any questions you’re welcome to ask here. Your premium plan also gives you access to live chat support (week days only) and private email support (24/7), which you can reach via https://wordpress.com/help/contact.
