WordPress not accepting new email

I changed my email. WordPress sent me a text with this information: ‘If you made this request, you can safely ignore and delete this email.’ I tried to log in with the new email. WordPress wouldn’t allow it. I opened my settings and found that I had indeed changed it, yet the message on the setting page indicates I need to take this vague action, which I did take and it did not approve my new email: ‘Your email change is pending. Please take a moment to check [email provided] for an email with the subject ‘[WordPress.com] New Email Address’ to confirm your change.’
