WordPress not only crashed Safari completely…

it also lost the latest revision I was working on. A tiny drop down did appear to look at existing revisions, however, it disappeared while I was communicating how let down I was by the wordpress crash to a friend. There is no clear menu to get back to any revisions.
I had to retype it.
no bueno. – I’m using the free version, and I get that.. but still – no bueno.

The dropdown you mentioned is the editor’s way to try to recover a post even if it wasn’t saved in some other way before (like an autosave or a save draft action).
Re-typing and re-saving will overwrite the old copy though. For future reference if this ever happens again, before you do anything else, go to https://wordpress.com/post with the same browser and see if it offers to restore a post. If a restore button appears, that means a local copy was saved in your browser and you may be able to recover it that way.
Another place you can check is drafts, but a post will only be there if you clicked the “save draft” button in time or if an autosave happened:
https://wordpress.com/posts/draftsI’m sorry you lost your first revision! Hopefully that won’t happen again but if it does, try to use the first method mentioned above as a first step.

thank you for the workaround. I’ll try that next time. Luckily it wasn’t un-reproduceable.
