wordpress openid

How do you see and change the info that WordPress passes to other sites when you use your wordpress url as your OpenID? On my dashboard, I click on the Options/OpenID tab. The only thing on that page is trusted sites.

If you have read this from the FAQs
    http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/03/06/what-is-openid/
and you still have questions then you need to contact staff directly http://wordpress.com/contact-support/

The FAQ is not clear on whether the URL link that will appear with one’s name in (say) a Blogger blog with the new OpenID option ennabled must got the WordPress.com site one uses for OpenID, or to the website URL one has supplied in the “contact info” portion of one’s profile. I assume the latter, but am not confident enough to tell that to my friends whose onely WordPress.com site is a private group blog.

(I haven’t been able to test this out yet because none of the blogspot bloggers I know have ennabled it yet. I used OpenID once or twice on a LiveJournal site a while ago, but don’t remember the outcome.)

    Edit: “…must GO TO the WordPress.com site…”

    (“onely”? Sheesh.)

O.K., to answer my own question: I’ve now had the chance to check this out, and it appears that the link goes to one’s primary WP.com blog, not the website URL listed in the contact info. Bummer.

Take-home message: Blogger comments still suck – they make people jump through too many hoops, and they don’t link where you want them to. WordPress.com is still a better place to blog if reader comments are important to you.
