  hi, I purchased a wordpress.com package and mapped my domain from google a few weeks ago but never got to actually create a site. After watching youtube videos it seems everyone uses a host like Site ground and WordPress.org. To make following the videos easier I created a Siteground site and downloaded WordPress.org but when I click on my web address it opened up wordpress .com.
  Can you tell me how to close the .com so it works on .org please

  If you’ve purchased a domain (like example.com) at WordPress.com and have purchased an account at Siteground and set up an account there, you have a few options, as outlined on this page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/

  • Transfer domain registration to another registrar
  • Change name servers to point the domain outside of WordPress.com
  • Updating DNS records using A Records

  If you want to keep your domain registered with WordPress.com, then the second or third options will be the course you would choose. It looks like this Siteground support article has the information for how to do that: https://www.siteground.com/kb/point-website-domain-siteground/
