WordPress.org or WordPress.com and BlueHost

Yesterday I purchased a bluehost 36 month plus plan and then created an account with wordpress.com. However, I’m confused whether I’m using wordpress.com or wordpress.org and what I installed. How do I figure this out, install correctly and start building my website?

No worries. It is confusing when you first get started. There are 2 different versions of WordPress.

With WordPress.com (that’s here) we offer a managed environment. This includes the nitty gritty details that are required for a successful site. Things like SEO, back ups, security… Those are built in out of the box with us. We also provide your hosting and support.

With WordPress.org (which is what you’ll use with BlueHost) it is a free, community maintained, open source project. You install WordPress and it is more technical and hands on. There are benefits of that level of customization too.

My suggestion is to figure out which option is best for your project and your skill level. This will set you up for success.
