Can I move my WordPress.org site from my local machine to WordPress.com? I am using Bitnami. I was going to use a plugin but I don’t have the plan do download plugins. I tried exporting to an xml file and importing in here but it didn’t work. I appreciate the help. My e-mail is (email visible only to moderators and staff) if you could please direct the response there it would be helpful but its ok if not.

Hello Eazagoon,
If you don’t like using a plug-in, then you’ll be able to do it manually.
There are tons of tutorials online which can help you achieve this.
Please take a look at this tutorial on how to move you WordPress website from localhost to a live server.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. If my original site relies heavily on plugins can I move it to a WordPress com site that is free? I noticed I need at least a Business Plan to utilize plugins. I was also asked if I could move it to a Wix or Square Space site and I’ve been researching it but can’t find a way to do it. The problem is that my original site relies on plugins and I either can’t move it to a WordPress com site because I don’t have a Business Plan and I don’t think it will work with Wix or Square Space because they aren’t compatible.
I appreciate the help, I will look into this some more as well. -
Hi eazargoon,

That’s correct, custom plugins can only be used on WordPress.com sites with the Business plan. While content from the existing site can be imported to WordPress.com, you wouldn’t be able to use plugins without upgrading first:

Please let me know if you have any questions.
