WordPress pages no longer load fully (last two days) what can I do?

  • Unknown's avatar

All WordPress pages, from new posts to handling comments, do not load fully. I have to keep reloading, or starting again — this is driving me crazy as the whole website is close to useless now, and I have two active blogs that cannot be managed.
    What is going on?
What can be done about it?

Can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies?. Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Firefox or Google Chrome?

  • Unknown's avatar

I use Safari. I do not have this issue with any other website.
This only began happening two or three days ago. Before that, WordPress.com normally worked fine.
I just emptied the cache and will see what happens now.

Okay — let us know if the issue persists!

You can also try another browser just to rule out a browser-related issue:

There is a little improvement after the cache was emptied, but it is still much more difficult than it was just a few days ago — and usually VERY slow.
Still a long wait on initial loading of any page, still often need to approve comments again and again before they are approved, same thing with replies.
I will keep monitoring the situation.

Problems started when the one button replaced the different ones for uploading images, etc. I often can’t get to upload now, have to go back and forth, repeat commands, etc. until finally I get images to upload from iPhoto. Before the change, it worked fine.

Have you tried to use a different browser, like Chrome?
    http://google.com/chrome

I’d like to rule out a browser-specific issue.

  • Unknown's avatar

I installed Chrome, and tried doing the blogs from it. Hit the same balky problems with, for instance, simply contacting Word Press while attempting to get a new post up.
If anything, it’s worse than with Safari, where sometimes it works.
Worst problems: contacting WordPress page in the first place; getting a comment approved, getting a reply to open and then be submitted — what else? Don’t remember, am so tired and frustrated.

  • That’s odd, it sounds like something is up with your connection.

Can you reset your router and modem?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I think I see something amiss —
Pages that open quickly and fully begin http://

The ones that are balky, don’t load fully, sometimes don’t load at all, begin https

I read something about this, it’s a security measure? but can slow down the loading process —
How can I disable this feature? And is there any reason why I shouldn’t?

Now I can’t get any part of wordpress that begins https
When this did start? And how can I deal with it. It is becoming impossible, the blog site is almost useless. Both blog sites, amended.

Not browser, not router, not modem. Not cache.
    WordPress own internal civil war.

  • We all use https here without issue, so I still have a feeling that the problem is on your end.

Did you have any luck with resetting your router and modem?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have reset my router and modem.
Everything works normally with them, and with my computer, and every website EXCEPT WordPress on the https pages.
For example, when I click on my main blog, Touch2Touch, which loads with a http url, it seems to load normally. When I click on my secondary blog, A View from the Woods, which loads with https, it loads only partially.
This happens with every wordpress function that uses https pages, such as comments to approve, reply, new post — in fact all of those kinds of functions.
It is maddening, and I hope you can make a suggestion that will correct what is evidently a wordpress problem.
(My husband just went on his computer and neither T2T nor View have loaded completely — and they are, for him, http pages. So I’m not absolutely sure of what the problem is, but clearly it’s wordpress connected, not computer.)
I’ll keep trying, but I can’t think of anything else really to try (I am not a techie) and so I hope you’ll keep trying too. As I said, I never had any problems until the last few days.

It’s all the admin functions —

I can’t even load my dashboard fully so I can do anything at all.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Is this useful?
When I tried to go to my dashboard, on the bottom I got contacting http:// blah blah blah, but up on top at the url, it was trying to reach https —-
Kept grinding away, but that’s a disconnect.
Finally it switched over and began loading, but got no further than 16 out of 43 items.

  • I made a small change to your account. Would you please try again?

  • Unknown's avatar

Whatever you did, it was good!
Both blogs are loading http again, and pretty quickly.
Can I uncross my fingers? Is this THE fix?
If so, thanks very very much.

  • That should be the fix. It looks like your network is having trouble with our HTTPS connection for some reason.
