WordPress Password Reset SPAM
-
Hey!
So I’ve been getting 6-15 emails a day from various accounts that don’t belong to me. One of which being (http://longrun.com) there are others but I’ve been deleting them up until now. This is starting to become a really annoying problem and I get more and more emails everyday. I had, at one point, admin granted for another blog called DESIGN WORK LIFE, so these password reset requests aren’t even coming through for my account, per se. Is there any better way to report these or make them stop? Because even though I have them flagged as SPAM, every time a new account requests the reset it comes through again. This seems like some sort of phishing scam and it’s making me both annoyed and uncomfortable.

Hi there,
From what email address are you receiving these emails? If an email is from us it will come from a @wordpress.com address, and neither our email logs nor your account’s logs show that we’ve sent you any password reset emails.
If the domain after the @ in the FROM address is anything else, it means we’re not sending the emails, and therefore have no way to stop them. Most likely this is a phishing attack by someone trying to get you to reveal your login credentials for your self-hosted site, so please don’t click any links in those emails under any circumstances. My advice would be to set up a filter in Gmail to automatically delete those emails as they come in.

Good morning erikseandad –
Here are the instructions for managing your Yahoo email settings: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN16025.html
Can you share more about the contents of the email?
One last note is to make sure that your email account is secured with a strong password, and 2 factor authorization is enabled if available through Yahoo.
