Hello.
My ‘free’ site has expired and it looks like I need to consider a paid for WordPress site.
Could someone tell me if I need separate web hosting if I buy the WordPress Personal Plan?
Thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You will not need separate web hosting for your site. Hosting with WordPress.com is free. If you want the additional features that come with the plans, then you can decide to purchase the Personal Plan. Here is more information on what each plan contains:
Thanks!

Hi @0212986mary,
I want to ask what you want to do with your site? Also, what were the features on the Premium Plan compelled you to purchase that one specifically? Just the domain?
Let me know and I’d be happy to assist you further.
Thanks!

Hey, thanks for responding to my enquiry.
I want to share personal life stories, experiences and lifestyle. I hope to encourage others to share as well. I’ll do review of trending news, post scholarships and helpful informations. My reason for choosing premium is 13gb space and possibility of monetizing my blog. I have eventually installed a theme but still not satisfied so i already hired a website designer to work on giving me a professional look.
What’s your advice regarding my intention for the blog?

We do have an advertising program called WordAds, which you can read more about here:
Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed. For full details, please see:
http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. Please see this link to learn about the differences:
We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested:
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!

What are my chances of getting a refund if i decide to move my newly registered domain to another hosting company considering that you guys don’t allow other ads on WordPress other than wordads? Or better still, can explain further what you mean by self hosting on WordPress.com , it might be a good option for me. How do I install it?
Thanks

Hi there,
I see that you already received a refund for your premium purchase.
There isn’t a self-hosting option on WordPress.com. However, you can install WordPress by going to https://wordpress.org. You’ll need to purchase hosting from a hosting partner first.
From the about page:
On this site you can download and install a software script called WordPress. To do this you need a web host who meets the minimum requirements and a little time. WordPress is completely customizable and can be used for almost anything. There is also a service called WordPress.com which lets you get started with a new and free WordPress-based blog in seconds, but varies in several ways and is less flexible than the WordPress you download and install yourself.
You can find out more about the differences here: WordPress.com and WordPress.org
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
