WordPress placed an ad that I cannot deal with!

    OK, I know Word Press says that they sometimes place “discreet AdSense advertisements” on our blogs. BUT, this is really bumming me out. My friend just tragically died. I wrote a heartfelt, emotional post about it and suddenly there’s an obnoxious funeral home ad HALF COVERING the photo of my deceased friend. NOT COOL. Word Press could have chosen any other post I’ve written in the past two years and it would have been a better choice for their so-called “discreet ad”…. but PLEASE!!!! This is a really sensitive post about a really sensitive thing. I cannot stand having that funeral home ad on there…. half over my deceased friend’s photo no less! And it is NOT discreet. It’s obnoxious and it doesn’t belong on a sensitive post about a tragic death. PLEASE!!! Put an ad on any other post but NOT on this one!

    I don’t know where to go to make this request. Please help!

    Take a screen cap of it and contact staff directly about it. That is obnoxious and uncalled for.

    Thanks! What’s the direct contact email for the staff?

    Use the contact form and then upload the screen cap to your media library and give them the URL of the uploaded file. Direct emails bypassing the contact form don’t get the attention you do from the contact form, which gets logged into their support ticket database/system.

    Yesterday, I did as you said but I’ve heard nothing back yet.

    Check your email spam filter at your ISP to make sure it did not get caught. I would wait a little and see if they get back to you today. They go through stuff in the order it was received, so it can be up to 24 hours before they get back to you.

    @chandij
    There’s only one way to make sure there are no advertisements on your blog and that’s to purchase a no-ads upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/ If you intend to do that anyway then why not do it now?

    If it’s covering the picture of your friend, first of all center the picture of your friend; that should stop the problem.

    But it sounds like there’s an underlying problem as well, since the ads should be contained in the sidebar and never scroll over into the content. Staff will need to fix that for sure, even if they leave the ad.
