WordPress Premium

In order to get rid of ads, I am thinking of upgrading to WordPress Premium. But I can’t find much information on what comes with Premium. I see that you can change your URL, but then how will my current subscribers get new posts? Also, does Premium support plugs like UploadPlus? Is there somewhere I can see what I get for upgrading or someone I can talk to before spending $99?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,
I upgraded to Premium recently and I’m very happy with it!
Your current subscribers should still get new posts as your new domain will map to your original blog.

You will be able to get specific answers via:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/premium-services/

With the Premium plan, you can’t add plugins. Althoughthe functionality of the most popular plugins is included.

Does it map automatically? Even for old links using the old URL? Are subscribers notified of the change?

Is there a plug in for automatic downloads or exports of the blog like UploadPlus?

    Thanks!

It maps automatically and you’re followers will still get updates. But, you will lose your Google rankings for some time.

This page will explain it better!

I’m not sure if you can get the exact functionality as the UploadPlus plugin, although you can certainly export and backup your content safely.

I’d advise you to give premium a free or paid trial. You’ve nothing to lose!

Thank you for the answers! May I bother you will a few more since no one has responded to the question I sent to the Premium support page?

    1. Does it change the appearance of the blog in anyway?

    2. What does it mean to lose my Google rankings? How do they come back?

    3. What advantages have you found aside from extra storage and no ads? So far I am not in need of storage, so I am not sure it’s worth paying $99 a year just to be ad-free.

    Thanks!

    1. It doesn’t change the appearance of the blog. You will notice more options and you’ll be able to access live chat when you first set up your new domain.

    2. Google rankings relate to how your site shows up on Google searches. They normally take a few months to come back, if your site gets regular traffic.

    3. The support and extra customisation features are nice. You can just purchase or map a new domain name for your site if you don’t want to upgrade all the way.

Your blog is a great idea. I’m going to talk with my relations about a family history blog of our own!

Thanks so much! You’ve been very helpful. I think I will wait until I have used up my free 3 GB and then upgrade. I’m in no rush to spend more money, but the benefits sound nice.

If you want any tips on genealogy, let me know!
