WordPress Reader
-
I had some issues a while back that you guys fixed. For some reason, people were no longer seeing my blog in the WordPress reader filtering by tags I selected. Not sure how it was fixed but your team fixed it. Now, people are telling me again that my blog isn’t appearing in the reader when they do a tag word search. I moved my blog from one hosting provider to another one and it might have stopped working at that time? I’m not sure. Can someone please check into this for me and help?

Your site is a self-hosted WordPress.org site. WordPress.org sites never appear in the tag/topic searches in the WordPress.com reader. That is functionality limited to WordPress.com sites.

My site has always appeared … and I also see others. They appear different where you cannot like the post from the viewer but the post appears. The way I knew it stopped was people began asking me about it. Even when I contacted support directly in the past, they acknowledged there was a problem… and fixed it. You should have a record indicating such. I change hosting companies, and somehow the site stopped appearing again.

Your site is not hosted by wordpress.COM and is not a part of the wordpress.COM hosted blogging community. Only posts published on wordpress.COM hosted sites will appear on the wordpress.COM categories and tags pages.

This is an abandoned blog of yours http://abeautifulwhim.wordpress.com/
It is a part of the wordpress.COM blogging community and if you revive it the posts will appear on the wordpress.COM Tags and Categories pages. This site http://abeautifulwhim.com/ is not hosted by wordpress.COM. It is hosted by GoDaddy.com, so it is not part of the wordpress.COM blogging community and the posts will NOT appear on the wordpress.COM Tags and Categories pages.

Hi there,
I think there is clarification that needs to be made on both ends here. Yes, WordPress.org sites can appear in the Reader via a RSS feed:
You can also add any non-WordPress.com site with an RSS feed to the Reader by clicking the Manage button next to Followed Sites. At the top of this page, you can enter the URL of any site.
The Reader won’t update immediately when you make a new post like it did when you were on WordPress.com as we don’t have a constant connection to your self-hosted site, but reach out for updates periodically throughout the day (#). That might be a reason why many of your users do not see the post. For example, the post might eventually show up 6 hours after you post it, so in order to see it in the Reader, you’ll have to scroll back 6 hours.
I believe this is what @janinehill2013 is referring to. Your RSS feed has an error that is preventing sites from showing up in the Reader like it did last time.
However, and this is what I think staff-ozmodiar and @Timethief is saying: Although non-WordPress.com sites can appear in the Reader, they do not appear in tags in the Reader:
The Tags section of your Reader displays the subjects that are most popular with bloggers on WordPress.com.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/
Searching tags in the Reader is a WordPress.com only feature.
Okay – now, that all of that is clear, I’ll take a look on our end and make sure that it is not a feeder error, and if you can scroll back in your Reader to make sure you do not see your post, that’d be great.
Thanks!

Oh, and @janinehill2013 –
In regards to seeing fortune.com in your Reader when you search for it, it is a WordPress.com site – a VIP WordPress.com site, in fact. =)
Hopefully that clears things up.

Hey!
Why did they appear before?
Are you referring to WordPress.org sites appearing in your Reader or WordPress.org sites appearing in your tag searches?
They were appearing in your Reader before because there wasn’t an error preventing them from appearing. I’m looking into that now so that the posts will begin to appear again.
As far as tag searches – if you can give me another example of a WordPress.org site appearing in tag searches, I will look into it. They don’t and never have as far as I am aware.
Thanks!

Hey there,
VIP sites are WordPress.com sites specifically catered to enterprises (Time.com, Techcrunch.com CNN.com and Fortune.com are examples).
You have a custom third party theme because you are using a self-hosted WordPress.org site. So, you have everything you need by being self-hosted (outside of your posts showing up in the Reader which I am looking into now =) ).
Thanks!

Let me see if I can another. Stephroyalty may have been one I saw. But it would appear in the reader if I was following just not a tag search is what I’m understanding. Yes?

Exactly!

I checked with my hosting company and the feed looks OK from their side. I also checked BlogLovin (which uses the RSS feed) and photos and the latest posts I have done appear there.

Hey!
Everything looks good, so I would check your Reader to make sure that a post appears in your feed next time you make one.
Thanks!
