WordPress Reader: Excerpts not showing from non-wordpress.com website
-
The WordPress Reader feed for my client’s website at https://bryanpfeiffer.com is only showing images. Excerpts don’t seem to display. The ‘excerpt’ fields for all of his posts are populated, but they just don’t show in the Reader. Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it? Is the problem related to it being a non-wordress.com site? Thanks in advance for any tips!

Hi there, is this the feed? https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/149887128 Even when I click on the image and the post loads in the Reader, there is no content other than the image and the comments on the post.
I’ve flagged this thread for Staff attention and assistance. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

Thanks @justjennifer!
Hi @gabehalberg, your client’s site is not hosted on WordPress.com so we can’t really access it to make sure everything is correct there. However, I noticed that this site is using an outdated version of both WordPress and Jetpack.
Please update those and, if the problem persists, contact Jetpack support team directly from https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support -

Thanks for your replies. I’ve done some more digging and I think the problem is that the site uses Advanced Custom Fields to handle most of the content. Apparently custom fields don’t show by default in rss feeds. I’m looking into ways to handle this, but if you’ve got any suggestions I’m all ears. :-) Thanks!

For that, I’d recommend posting to the community forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
These are the forums for folks who self-host their WordPress.org sites so you may find someone who had a smiliar issue and was able to fix it :)
