WordPress Reader RSS functionality
-
Hello,
I am very satisfied with all WordPress.com features and I truely think that WordPress.com is the best home for bloggers.
Also I was very impressed that WordPress.com Reader is able to import and follow the non-Wordpress.com blogs. Indeed this is great. And so after Google announced about it’s Reader closure I thought about the possibility to transfer all my RSS feeds into WordPress.com Reader but having a huge list of RSS feeds and vast amount of new posts everyday I am still not entirely convinced to do that due to the lack of some RSS reader functionalities in WordPress.com Reader. I.e. Grouping of RSS feeds, Unread count both for Group of feeds and Every RSS feed, Possibility to view All posts of selected Group of feeds, List view of posts. These basic RSS reader functionalities will instantly make me jump into WordPress.com Reader as the main RSS and blogging home.
My question – is Automattic planning to expand Reader RSS functionalities in order to make it more suitable for daily consumption of huge amounts of RSS feeds?Thank you.

No, we don’t have any plans to mirror the functionality of Google Reader.
If you’re looking for something the matches Google Reader a bit more closely, there are plenty around to choose from: http://wpcandy.com/presents/alternatives-to-google-reader-my-experiences/
Most of the folks I know seem to be going with either the WordPress.com Reader or http://www.feedly.com/

Thank you macmanx, for your reply and answer.
Yes there are few that seems to be worth to try or wait for. I will give those a try.
Just thought that WordPress.com has everything in place to be the No 1 feed and story reader with just some minor features missing ;)
