WordPress Reader settings & stats
-
1) If someone clicks and reads your post in the WordPress Reader, is that reflected in your stats anywhere (assuming they don’t actually go to your webpage)?
2) I’ve noticed some blogs limit the amount you can see in the Reader, requiring you to visit their webpage. Where is this setting? Do you recommend using it?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Our stats are not real time stats. For details see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/ and note the views and viewers take hours to update. Provided you are logged in when visiting, your own views are not recorded on any public blog you registered.
Our stats are page view stats. Please do not assume that everyone who clicks a follow, like, share, reblog or comment link actually reads the post on your blog because odds are they may not. Also note that those who follow your blog in the Reader or by email don’t have to click into the blog unless they wish to. Subscribers control how frequently they receive your posts (instantly, daily, weekly). And, they can even comment without clicking into the blog either.
Follow, like, share, reblog or comment clicks are not page views. In fact, follows, likes, shares, comments and reblogs are completely misleading when you are talking about page view stats.
Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com/Gravatar account who is logged into WordPress.com can “follow” your blog, “like”, “share” and “reblog” your posts and “comment” in several locations such as the Reader, without ever clicking into your blog and creating a single page view stat.
Logged in visitors using a mobile can read the full post without creating a page view stat. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-reader-show-full-text?replies=31#post-1373606
You can control the length of the entry sent out on your RSS feed here Dashboard > Settings > Reading. Choose the “summary” setting for your RSS feed rather than to “full text”. That will compel followers who are not using mobiles to click into the blog to read the full post which will create a page view stat.

Not that I’m aware of and I have blogged for over 9 years now – 8 of them here at WordPress.com. Will others say that not providing whole posts decreases traffic? Sure they will and I will be happy to shoot them down for their BS spieling. The only advantage to allowing any site other than your own blog to display your full posts is the advertising revenue the site receives from using your content to posts ads on. Your content is the product – never forget that.

You’re welcome. Do not dilute the value of your brand by providing full posts anywhere except on your own blog. Here’s more reading on branding in the event that you are into reading it http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2014/04/10/branding-on-the-blog-and-beyond-the-blog/

Oh while we are at it and you have me on my soapbox … lol :D I’ll provide even more. A savvy blogger does not dilute their brand by polluting cyberspace with duplicate entries made by autoposting to social networks. Read all about that here http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2014/09/10/social-networking-blunders/
